The six times table seems to be the second most challenging times table to learn.
Our six times table poster presents this difficult table visually, with a staggering 1-150 top-down grid. It also introduces different ways of learning the six times table, including:
- visual patterns
- number sense techniques (pull-apart strategies) specific to the six times table
- shortcuts to double-checking your work (number patterns)
Number sense can be beautifully described as “making friends with numbers” – it goes beyond the calculations and procedures we have to learn. Fostering number sense can come with including strategies for finding alternate methods to the outcome. Being able to take numbers apart and put them together again in more effective ways shows a wonderful case of number sense.
This poster shows you not only the visual and spatial processing of the six times table, but also how to use number sense strategies to find its products that don’t easily come to mind.
